I’ve been in the digital world for a little over 6 years working on brands from a small Italian travel agency to fortune 500 brands.   Over the last 6 years, I have heard every brand say at least once, “I know that is what I should do digitally, but that isn’t what branding best practices tells us to do.”  

Take for example a company like P&G who has a multiple brands.  Branding best practices would say that each website should have its own website.  SEO best practices say that P&G should combine those websites into 1 site to consolidate link popularity and content outreach resources. 

The digital industry has evolved into a world where every brand needs to be online and accessible anywhere and on any device.   Branding has probably never been more important with the evolution of social media, but that also makes digital discipline just as important.
